abstract This solid electrolytic capacitor comprises a capacitor element that is provided with: a valve-acting metal substrate which has a main surface, end surfaces that are perpendicular to the main surface and positioned in the electrode lead-out direction, and lateral surfaces that are perpendicular to the main surface and to the end surfaces, and which has a porous layer on the main surface; a dielectric layer which is formed on at least a part of the surface of the porous layer; a solid electrolyte layer which is disposed on the dielectric layer; and a conductor layer which is disposed on the solid electrolyte layer. This solid electrolytic capacitor is characterized in that the capacitor element is configured such that one end surface of the valve-acting metal substrate is directly covered with an insulating material.
