abstract | The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing insulating products based on mineral wool, comprising - the application, to mineral wool fibers, of a binding compound containing (a) at least one carbohydrate chosen from reducing sugars, non-reducing sugars, hydrogenated sugars and a mixture thereof, (b) at least one agent for crosslinking the carbohydrate(s), - the evaporation of the solvent phase of the binding compound and - the thermal hardening of the non-volatile fraction of the compound, said process being characterized by the fact that, added to the binding compound, preferably immediately before the application thereof to the mineral wool fibers, is an oil-in-water emulsion comprising water, a mineral oil, at least one nonionic surfactant and a water-soluble polysaccharide, the mean diameter of the oil droplets of the stable oil-in-water emulsion, determined by laser diffraction particle size analysis, being greater than 5 µm. |
