abstract The invention relates to a method for obtaining humic acids extracted from leonardites and which have a greater capacity to form complexes with metal ions, the method including selective activation, selective extraction and selective purification that increase the capacity of the complex-forming functional groups in the humic acids to form complexes with said metal ions. The method of the invention essentially includes a first step of grinding leonardite in liquid and two steps of extracting using a basic pH gradient.
