abstract The invention relates to a method for obtaining a graphene that is covalently functionalised with an organic molecule. The method comprises: a first step of forming monatomic vacancies/defects in the crystal lattice of the graphene by means of gentle bombardment with noble gas ions under ultra-high vacuum conditions, and a second step of exposing the graphene surface to a high partial pressure of an organic molecule.
