abstract | Embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to therapeutic compositions that include both glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) and glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2) for treating or preventing a metabolic disease, a metabolic disorder, or a metabolic syndrome in a subject. Each of GLP-1 and GLP-2 can be in the form of synthesized peptides, recombinant peptides, secreted peptides, isolated peptides, lyophilized peptides, derivatized peptides, intact peptides, peptide fragments that include one or more receptor binding domains, and combinations thereof. Additional embodiments pertain to methods of treating or preventing metabolic diseases, disorders or syndromes in a subject by administering the therapeutic compositions of the present disclosure to the subject. |
