titleOfInvention Photocatalytic water splitting using substrate with porous frit
abstract The disclosure concerns a photocatalytic reactor for the conversion of water to hydrogen and oxygen gases. A device includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet; a channel formed in the housing in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet, wherein the channel is configured to allow fluid passage between the inlet and the outlet; a membrane disposed within the channel, the membrane configured to allow fluid flowing through the channel to pass through the membrane; and a photocatalyst disposed adjacent the membrane. The membrane includes a porous frit, and the fluid flowing through the channel passes through the porous frit of the membrane, thereby engaging the photocatalyst and initiating a reaction to generate hydrogen and oxygen gases.
