titleOfInvention Foldable extendable head for agave harvesting
abstract The present invention relates to an improved foldable extendable head for harvesting agave, characterised in that it comprises a vertical structure at the lower end of which is disposed an element for supporting and securing a pair of lower pincer-like cutters for cutting an agave plant at the base, the cutters being defined by a pair of straight cutting knives secured to a pair of curved clamps, one clamp completely opposite the other and each secured with its own rotary shaft to the supporting and securing element. Each clamp comprises a circular or semicircular gear that allows the two clamps to engage, the gears defining together a rack-and-pinion-type mechanism for precisely synchronising the opening and closing movement between the clamps. A structure for securing at least one hydraulic or pneumatic actuator is mounted on the rear area of the supporting and securing element, a rod being pivotably secured in the rear area close to the rotary shaft of at least one curved clamp so as to open or close both clamps by effect of the rack-and-pinion-type mechanism.
