In brain dysfunction induced by brain hemorrhage or ischemia, it is needed to treat causative disease, i.e., hemorrhage or ischemia, and it is also needed to promote the protection or regeneration of nerve cells or the like that are damaged by the causative disease. The present invention addresses the problem of providing an umbilical cord-derived cell having an effect to promote the above-mentioned protection or regeneration of nerve cells and the like. The present invention also addresses the problem of providing a therapeutic agent for brain dysfunction, which can exert the effect thereof through a simpler administration route.nThe present invention is a therapeutic agent for brain dysfunction, which comprises umbilical cord-derived cells. The therapeutic agent according to the present invention is preferably administered intravenously. The umbilical cord-derived cells are preferably cells prepared from an amnion, a blood vessel, a perivascular tissue or a umbilical cord tissue including Wharton's jelly. |
