The invention relates to a method for forming a syngas by means of an autothermal reforming process. A hydrocarbon- and steam-containing hydrocarbon/steam mixture and an oxygen-containing gas are introduced into a pressure container. The hydrocarbons are partially oxidized in a reaction zone of the pressure container and supplied to a catalyst bed of the pressure container The reaction zone of the pressure container has a conical region and a cylindrical region with a cylinder height. The pressure container is supplied a hydrocarbon/steam mixture volumetric flow rate V ranging from 37,000/P m 3 /h to 1,000,000/P m 3 /h, and a syngas flow rate N ranging from 1,090 kmol/h to 40,000 kmol/h with a molar density A ranging from P.6.9 mol/m 3 to P.9.5 mol/m 3 is drawn from the pressure container, wherein P is the dimensionless numerical value of the gas pressure [bar abs] at an outlet of the pressure container, said value ranging from 10 to 73.5. |
