abstract The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising diketopiperazine as an effective ingredient for preventing or treating a systemic inflammatory disease and, more particularly, to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the diketopiperazine represented by any one of chemical formulas 1 to 3 as an effective ingredient for prevention or treatment of a systemic inflammatory disease. The method of the present invention inhibits the secretion of high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) to regulate pre-inflammatory signaling and to suppress vascular inflammatory responses, thus finding useful applications in preventing and treating systemic inflammatory diseases.
