The present invention is directed to a method of converting aqueous metal into colloidal metal comprising a step of contacting an aqueous metal with a carboxylated allotrope of carbon in an aqueous solution. The present invention also provides a functionalized conjugate of an antibody and PEGylated graphene oxide for use in chemical conversion of aqueous metal to colloidal metal. A graphene oxide nanocomposite comprising nanoparticles of a metal selected from the group consisting of Al, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn and Ag embedded over a sheet of carboxylated graphene oxide is also provided. |
