abstract A filtration membrane for trapping microparticles, the filtration membrane being obtained by forming communication pores by anodic oxidation of an aluminum material, wherein the filtration membrane for trapping microparticles is characterized in having: a small pore diameter part having formed therein communication pores opening on one surface of the filtration membrane; an intermediate pore part having formed therein communication pores to which the communication pores in the small pore diameter part are connected and which have a diameter greater than that of the communication pores in the small pore diameter part; and a large pore diameter part to which the communication pores in the intermediate pore part are connected, which have a diameter greater than that of the communication pores in the intermediate pore part, and which open on the other surface of the filtration membrane, communication pores having an average pore diameter of 4-20 nm being formed in the small pore diameter part so as to extend to a position at least 400 nm from one surface of the filtration membrane, the filtration membrane having a total membrane thickness of 50 μm or less, and the communication pores in the large pore diameter part having a narrow part of the large pore diameter part on the intermediate pore part side.
