abstract A power battery, a protection system thereof, and an electric vehicle. The protection system comprises a control device (400), a circuit on-off device (403), and a gas detection device (300) located in the power battery. The gas detection device (300) is configured to detect a combustible gas in the power battery when a mechanism for sensing gas pressure is started and feed back the detected signal to the control device (400). The control device (400) is configured to determine, according to the detected signal, whether to control the circuit on-off device (403) to cut off a charging and discharging circuit of the power battery.
