abstract The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating a muscle disease, the composition comprising mesenchymal stem cells, or an XCL1 protein or a derivative thereof, and a method for screening a muscle disease-treating agent. Effective in inhibiting the death of muscle cells or myoblasts, the mesenchymal stem cells or the XCL1 protein of the present invention can be usefully used for preventing or treating muscle diseases, and an inhibitory agent against cell death, containing an XCL1 protein can be used for cell death studies.
