abstract The present invention relates to a whitening cosmetic composition comprising as an active ingredient a persimmon extract fraction fermented by microorganisms, wherein the fermented persimmon extract fraction can inhibit tyrosinase activity and melanin production and increase the antioxidant ability by increasing polyphenol and suppressing radical scavenging ability. Therefore, the fermented persimmon extract fraction having the above-mentioned effect may be used as a whitening cosmetic composition to contribute to the reduction of the treatment cost used in the disposal of persimmon sludge and the generation of additional profits, and as an indirect inhibitor of tyrosinase capable of inhibiting tyrosinase production without directly inhibiting tyrosinase activity.
