abstract |
The invention relates to a method for producing an aromatic polyamine mixture that contains 4,4'-methylene diphenyl amine and higher homologues of MDA, by (i) reacting aniline with formaldehyde using an acid catalyst to form a raw-product mixture (I), (ii) neutralising the raw-product mixture (I) and separating the resulting salts; (iii) separating aniline; (iv) distilling the obtained raw-product mixture by separating (iv-1) a mixture (II) consisting of MDA isomers (II-1) having 8 to 20 wt.% 4,4'-methylene diphenyl amine and a maximum of 0.3 wt.% of secondary components (II-2), and (iv-2) a low boiling mixture consisting of at least 55 wt.% secondary components (II-2) and MDA isomers (II-1); and (v) recirculating the mixture (II). |
