abstract Provided is a novel molecule that catalyzes a hydrolysis reaction and that is different from an enzyme protein. The catalytic peptide of the present invention is a peptide that catalyzes a hydrolysis reaction and is at least one peptide selected from the group consisting of (A1) to (A4) below. (A1) A peptide comprising, in a Tob/BTG protein, Box A and at least one of the upstream region and downstream region therefrom; (A2) a peptide comprising a partial region of (A1); (A3) a peptide having hydrolytic activity and comprising an amino acid sequence provided by the deletion, substitution, addition, and/or insertion of one or a plurality of amino acids in or to the amino acid sequence of (A1) or (A2); and (A4) a peptide having hydrolytic activity and comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 85% homology to the amino acid sequence of (A1) or (A2).
