The present invention relates to a liquid crystal compound represented by chemical formula 1 below. More specifically, according to the present invention, the liquid crystal compound has high refractive anisotropy, and thus can provide a liquid crystal composition optimized for various liquid crystal display devices, particularly, VA, MVA, PVA, PS-VA, PALC, FFS, PS-FFS, IPS or PS-IPS mode liquid crystal display devices requiring quick response time.
