The present invention relates to a negative electrode active material having excellent output characteristics, with low gas generation, and an electrode containing the negative electrode active material. The negative electrode active material comprises MO-LTO composite particles (metal oxide (MO)-lithium titanium oxide (LTO) composite particles), wherein the composite particles have the morphology of secondary particles into which primary particles aggregate, the primary particles having a core-shell structure in which a core is at least partially or entirely covered with a shell, the core being a primary particle of lithium titanium oxide (LTO), the shell comprising a metal oxide. |
