Provided are a high pressure container having superior pressure-resistance strength, and a method for manufacturing the high pressure container. The high pressure container (10) is provided with a hollow container (12) capable of being hermetically sealed and a reinforcement layer (14) covering the outer surface of the hollow container (12), and is characterized in that: the reinforcement layer (14) is provided with composite carbon-fiber bundles (16) which are wound around the outer surface of the hollow container (12) to be fixed thereon by a cured product of a thermosetting resin, and are layered onto one another; and a stress attenuation part (26), including the cured product (22) of the thermosetting resin and multiple carbon nanotubes (20a), is provided between carbon fibers (18a) included in one of the composite carbon-fiber bundles (16) and carbon fibers included in the other one of the composite carbon-fiber bundles (16). |
