abstract | As a useful method for easily preparing high quality cartilaginous tissue masses necessary for treatment of joint diseases, the present invention provides a cartilaginous tissue mass formed from cartilaginous cells differentiated from stem cells in a culture medium comprising Frizzled-8 (FZD8) proteins or fragments thereof. The fragments are preferably (A) polypeptides that comprise amino acid sequences represented by SEQ. ID No. 2 or SEQ. ID No. 3, or (B) polypeptides that exhibit activity promoting the differentiation and formation of cartilaginous tissue masses from stem cell, and that comprise amino acid sequences represented by SEQ. ID No. 2 or SEQ. ID No. 3, wherein one or a plurality of amino acids have been deleted, substituted, inserted or added. |
