Method for inhibiting or masking fishy odours |
abstract |
Norlimbanol in general and particularly its isomer mixture Timberol®, an amber-woody fragrance, is able to specifically inhibit the trimethylamine-induced h TAAR5 activation up to 96%. Moreover, human psychophysical data showed that the presence of Timberol® in- creases the olfactory detection threshold for the characteristic fishy odor of trimethylamine by almost one order of magnitude. |
