abstract The invention relates to a method for producing polyhydroxyalkanoates and ectoine from cereal grain hydrolysates by means of saccharification and simultaneous fermentation. The method uses liquefied cereal grain and allows polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and ectoine to be obtained by means of a process of simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) using a halophile bacterium. The method allows the operation of an ethanol biorefinery to be made more flexible, by diverting a fraction of the raw material to produce PHA and/or ectoine, according to the market price of fuel.
