abstract |
The invention relates to the synthesis of an associative acrylic (co)polymer by radical polymerisation in an aqueous emulsion, said (co)polymer comprising at least one mixture of oligomers of acrylic acid which are represented by formula (I) in which n is a whole number between 1 and 10, said oligomers being prepared from acrylic acid at a temperature of between 50°C and 200°C in the presence of an acid or base catalyst, water and polymerisation inhibitors. The invention also relates to the associative acrylic (co)polymer produced by the method, and to the use of said (co)polymer as a thickener in different formulations. |
