abstract This ultrasonic diagnostic device is provided with: an ultrasonic probe; an imaging unit that generates an ultrasonic image of a subject in accordance with a set imaging condition by causing the ultrasonic probe to transmit and receive an ultrasonic beam to and from the subject and then converting a received signal outputted from the ultrasonic probe into an image; a probe state determining unit that determines whether the ultrasonic probe is in a mid-air radiating state or in a state of being in contact with the subject; and a device control unit that changes the imaging condition when the probe state determining unit determines that the state of the ultrasonic probe has changed from the state of being in contact with the subject to a mid-air radiating state, and that controls the imaging unit to generate an ultrasonic image by using the changed imaging condition.
