abstract Provided is a lightweight, thin molded object having a high mechanical strength. The thin molded object is a molded object obtained by using a polyamide-resin composition that contains polyamide-resin-coated fiber bundles in which the carbon fibers that are bundled in a state in which orientations thereof are aligned in the length direction are integrated by coating the carbon fibers with a polyamide resin in a molten state and in which the fiber bundles are cut so as to have lengths of 5 to 20 mm, wherein the polyamide in the polyamide-resin-attached fiber bundles is selected from among PA11, PA12, PA610, and PA612 and the thin molded object satisfies the following requirements (a) to (d): (a) the carbon-fiber content of the thin molded object is 5 to 40 % by mass; (b) the weight-average fiber length of the carbon fibers in the thin molded object is 0.5 to 3.0 mm; (c) the thickness of the thin molded object is 1.0 to 4.0 mm; and (d) the specific weight of the thin molded object is equal to or less than 1.3.
