abstract What is described is a porous monolithic hybrid reactor for continuous liquid-liquid reactions. This reactor has a porous cellulose and/or cellulose derivative-containing polymeric matrix with transport pores having a diameter of 1 to 200 µm, the cellulose and/or the cellulose derivatives being in particulate form and having a diameter of 0.1 to 100 µm. Also described is a method for the production of this monolithic hybrid reactor, and the use of same with incorporated catalyst-containing ionic liquid for two-phase catalysis, in particular of continuous transesterifications, esterifications and amidations. The new hybrid reactor is designed such that a liquid transport phase containing the reactants can flow through it easily and with low back-pressure, resulting in good contact between the transport phase and the ionic liquid contained in the hybrid reactor, thus permitting rapid exchange of reactants and products in these two liquid phases. The hybrid reactor permits relatively long uptimes of the catalytic system and permits increased space-time yields.
