The present invention provides a liquid crystal display element having exceptional high-speed response. The present invention provides a liquid crystal display element in which a liquid crystal composition that contains one or more liquid crystal compounds held between two transparent substrates, at least one of which having an electrode, contains a copolymer that is a cured polymerizable composition containing two or more polymerizable compounds; one or more polymerizable light-orientation-functional compounds (Vn) being used as the polymerizable compounds, and the polymerizable composition content relative to the total weight of the polymerizable composition and the liquid crystal composition being at least 1% by mass to less than 40% by mass. This liquid crystal display element can be used in a variety of dynamic modes such as TN, STN, ECB, VA, VA-TN, IPS, FFS, π-cell, OCB and ChLCD. |
