abstract A voltage measurement device for individually measuring the voltage of n (2 ≤ n) power storage elements B(1)-B(n) connected in series, said voltage measurement device being equipped with: 1 st to n th voltage detection units that individually measure the voltage of the power storage elements; a switch circuit that switches the connection state of the power storage elements and the 1 st to n th voltage detection units; a switch (SW) control unit that drives the switch circuit; and an arithmetic processing device. The power storage elements are arranged on a high-potential side in the order in which n increases. The switch circuit has a capacitor connected in parallel with the power storage element B(1). In the switch circuit the negative electrode terminals of the power storage elements are connected to a first terminal of the capacitor via corresponding first switches, the positive electrode terminals of the power storage elements are connected to a second terminal of the capacitor via corresponding second switches, and a third switch SW3 is interposed between the first voltage detection unit and the first terminal. When the first switch and the second switch corresponding to the power storage element B(j) (j = 1-n) are defined as SWj1 and SWj2, the SW control unit closes the switches SWj1 and SWj2 and opens the other first and second switches by means of a command from the arithmetic processing device, thereby connecting the capacitor in parallel to the power storage element B(j).
