The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a composition which has achieved high ∆n, while having a liquid crystal phase in a wide temperature range, low viscosity, good solubility at low temperatures, high specific resistance, high voltage holding ratio, and stability with respect to heat and light; a liquid crystal composition which has excellent lens effect by using this composition, while exhibiting excellent chemical stability; a liquid crystal display element using this liquid crystal composition; and a liquid crystal lens. The present invention provides: a liquid crystal composition which contains one or more compounds represented by general formula (i) and one or more compounds represented by general formula (ii); a liquid crystal display element using this liquid crystal composition; a liquid crystal lens using this liquid crystal composition; and a birefringent lens for three dimensional image display, which uses this liquid crystal composition. |
