abstract The present invention relates to a novel antimicrobial absorbent dressing, incorporating a source of silver ions, which has an excellent antimicrobial activity against bacteria organised in a biofilm. According to the invention, this dressing comprises: a- an absorbent nonwoven compress formed either of bicomponent superabsorbent fibres bonded together by needle punching, and one of the components of which gels in contact with exudates while the other component does not gel in contact with exudates, or of a mixture of bicomponent superabsorbent fibres, one of the components of which gels in contact with exudates while the other component does not gel in contact with exudates, and of thermobonding non-absorbent fibres, all of the fibres being thermobonded, b- a contact layer with the wound covering the face of the compress facing toward the wound; said contact layer comprising openings that allow the passage of the exudates from the wound and having a basis weight between 100 and 350 g/m 2 and being formed of an elastomer composition containing hydrocolloides, in a proportion of between 2 and 20% by weight of the weight of said composition; said dressing comprising an amount of silver ions greater than or equal to 0.6% and less than or equal to 1.2%, expressed by weight relative to the total weight of the dressing.
