abstract | The present invention provides a planar electroluminescence (EL) device comprising a substrate layer, an electrode layer, an insulating layer and a light emitting layer, with or without an additional protecting layer 1 or 2 or 3, with or without an additional modulating layer, with or without an additional encapsulation layer, wherein the electrode layer comprises a plurality of electrodes that are printed on the same plane of the substrate. In one embodiment, the electrode layer is sandwiched between the insulating layer and the substrate, and the light emitting layer is placed on the surface of the insulating layer. The EL device of the present invention would emit light when liquid, polar component, or conductive solution is written directly on the light emitting layer surface. The EL device can also emit light for prolonged period when the light emitting layer is coated or deposited with conductive material. The planar EL device of the present invention can be easily fabricated into a writing board or lighting device. |
