titleOfInvention Aqueous gel-containing resin particle emulsion and method for preparing said aqueous gel-containing resin particle emulsion
abstract Provided are: an aqueous gel-containing resin particle emulsion which has a suppressed tendency to separation-sedimentation, has excellent storage stability, and can be effectively utilized in industrial applications despite having a particle diameter of at least 500 nm or even at least 1000 nm; and a method for reliably preparing the aqueous gel-containing resin particle emulsion having excellent properties by using a simple method in which polymerization stability is excellent. This aqueous gel-containing resin particle emulsion contains particles each comprising: a core portion which is composed of a (meth)acrylic copolymer having an acid value of 200-400 mgKOH/g and is alkali-swellable; and a resin portion which encloses the core portion and includes the outermost layer of the particle, wherein the outermost layer is composed of a hydrophobic monomer and is not alkali-swellable. The core portion is a solvent-containing aqueous gel, the thickness of the resin portion is about 5% or less of the particle diameter, and the particles have an average particle diameter of 500-5000 nm, inclusive. Said method is used for preparing this emulsion.
