abstract The present invention aims to provide a novel alicyclic epoxide that is useful as a raw material of 2-hydroxyl-4-oxa-5-thia tricycle[4.2.1.0 3,7 ] nonane derivative. The alicyclic epoxide of the present invention is a compound represented by formula (1). In the formula, R 1 , R 2 , R3 and R4 are same or different, and indicate a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or any alkyl that has a halogen atom and has a carbon atom number ranging from 1 to 6, or a hydroxyl-alkyl that has any hydroxyl protected group and that has a halogen atom with the carbon atom number ranging from 1 to 6. The R 15 , R 6 and R 7 are same or different, and indicate a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or any alkyl that has a halogen atom and has a carbon atom number ranging from 1 to 6, any carboxyl forming a salt, a substituted oxygroup carbonyl, any sulfino forming a salt, a substituted oxygroup sulfino, any sulfo forming a salt, a substituted oxygroup sulfonyl forming a salt, or cyan. Q indicates methylene substituted by 1 or 2 alkyls having a carbon atom number ranging from 1 to 3, an oxygen atom or an sulfur atom; n indicates 1 or 2, X indicates a halogen atom; the positions of R 1 , R 2 and epoxy in space and positions of the R 7 and S(O) n X group in space are respectively inward or outward.
