abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a coloring composition which develops color at high concentration and exhibits less discoloration over time; a lithographic printing plate precursor which has excellent plate inspection properties due to coloring and is capable of maintaining high color definition over time after coloring; a method for producing a lithographic printing plate using the lithographic printing plate precursor; and a novel compound that can be suitably used as a coloring agent. This coloring composition is characterized by containing a compound represented by formula 1. This compound is characterized by being represented by formula 1. R 1 in formula 1 represents a group represented by formula 2. In formula 2, all three of R 10 , R 11 and R 12 independently represent an aryl group, or two of the three independently represent an aryl group.
