abstract The invention relates to a quick, sensitive, specific, reproducible and low-cost method for identifying, and determining the purity of the bacteria Piscirickettsia salmonis . This method is a method based on PCR-RFLP (to be completed) for identifying Piscirickettsia salmonis and also for establishing if a sample of Piscirickettsia salmonis (for example, a bacterial culture) is pure or contaminated with other bacteria that can cohabit with Piscirickettsia salmonis . This method could be employed in laboratories around the world as the standard technology for monitoring bacterial cultures and for technologies used for the epidemiological surveillance of Piscirickettsia salmonis . The invention also relates to a kit for identifying, and determining the purity of Piscirickettsia salmonis .
