[Problem] To provide a liquid crystal composition containing at least one type of compound represented by general formula (i) and at least one type of compound represented by general formula (N), the total amount of the compound represented by general formula (i) being 10% by mass or greater, and a liquid crystal display element which uses the liquid crystal composition. [Solution] Through the liquid crystal composition and liquid crystal display element using the same pertaining to the present invention, there is provided a liquid crystal composition having a positive ∆ε, the liquid crystal composition whereby gradation characteristics are easily controlled as a result of the liquid crystal composition being provided with a flat transmission characteristic curve, and through use of this liquid crystal composition, a liquid crystal display element is provided at high yield, whereby display defects caused by such factors as burn-in or dropping marks are suppressed and excellent display quality is demonstrated, and a liquid crystal display element which uses the liquid crystal composition is provided. |
