abstract The invention relates to a method for treating surgical instruments, in particular endoscopes, by means of a treatment fluids. The invention further relates to a device (16) for treating surgical instruments, in particular endoscopes, comprising a fluid container (13) for a treatment fluid (10) and a treatment apparatus (12), wherein the treatment apparatus (12) has a treatment chamber (11), in which at least one surgical instrument can be or is inserted for treatment, wherein the fluid container (13) and the treatment chamber (11) of the treatment apparatus (12) are spatially separated. The invention is characterized in that , before the surgical instrument is treated by means of the treatment fluid (10), microwave radiation (14) is applied to the treatment fluid (10) in a fluid container (13) separated from a treatment chamber (11) of a treatment apparatus (12).
