abstract |
Provided is a dispersion stabilizer for suspension polymerization, which contains a vinyl alcohol polymer (A) that is configured such that: the absorbance (a1) of a 0.1% by mass aqueous solution thereof at a wavelength of 280 nm is less than 0.25; the absorbance (a2) of the aqueous solution at a wavelength of 320 nm is less than 0.030; the saponification degree thereof is from 68% by mole to 98% by mole (inclusive); the viscosity-average polymerization degree thereof is more than 1,500 but less than 4,500; and the YI value thereof in a powder form is 5 or more. This dispersion stabilizer enables the achievement of a vinyl resin that has excellent polymerization stability, small particle size and improved bulk specific gravity. |
