abstract | The application relates to a method for mass spectrometry analysis of components in a sample whereby said components are labeled with a mass tag. Said mass tag are compounds capable of generating aromatic ions containing 4n+2 electrons in a closed ring system whereby the method for mass spectrometry includes detecting by mass spectrometry of aromatic ions containing 4n+2 electrons in the closed ring system whereby the charge is located within the aromatic system. Further, the present invention provides new compounds useful as mass tags in mass spectrometry, in particular, the mass tags comprise cyclopropenium-derivatives and dibenzo-cycloheptatrienyl carbonium ions. A kit of reagents comprising these mass tags is also provided. |
