abstract | Provided is a liquid crystal aligning agent which forms a liquid crystal alignment film that exhibits good adhesion to a substrate and a sealing agent. A liquid crystal aligning agent that contains a polyimide precursor that is obtained by reacting a diamine component, which contains a diamine having a structure represented by formula (1), and a tetracarboxylic acid component with each other and/or a polyimide that is obtained by imidizing the polyimide precursor. (In formula (1), each of R 1 and R 2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms or a group represented by formula (2), and at least one of R 1 and R 2 represents a group represented by formula (2). In formula (2), A represents a single bond or a divalent group that is composed of a hydrocarbon group having 1-4 carbon atoms.) |
