abstract [Problem] This invention addresses the problem of providing a liquid-crystal display element using a liquid-crystal composition that exhibits negative dielectric anisotropy and, by being used in an FFS-mode liquid-crystal display element, makes it possible to realize excellent display characteristics without compromising the burn-in characteristics of the display element or liquid-crystal-display-element characteristics such as dielectric anisotropy, viscosity, maximum nematic-phase temperature, nematic-phase stability at low temperatures, or γ1. [Solution] Said problem is solved by the provision of an FFS liquid-crystal display element using an n-type liquid-crystal composition.
