The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which prevents decrease in the voltage holding ratio (VHR) of a liquid crystal layer and increase in the ion density (ID), and which solves problems of display failure such as white spot, alignment unevenness and screen burn-in.nThe present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which uses, as a liquid crystal layer, a liquid crystal composition that contains a liquid crystal compound having a specific structure, while using, as an in-cell retardation layer, an optically anisotropic material that is obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable liquid crystal composition that contains a polymerizable liquid crystal compound having a specific structure at a specific ratio.nSince a liquid crystal display device of the present invention is characterized by preventing decrease in the voltage holding ratio (VHR) of a liquid crystal layer and increase in the ion density (ID), and by suppressing the occurrence of display failure such as screen burn-in, this liquid crystal display device is useful as a liquid crystal display device of IPS mode, FFS mode and TN mode for active matrix driving, and is applicable to liquid crystal display devices such as a liquid crystal TV, a monitor, a mobile phone and a smart phone. |
