abstract A sheet light source 101 is described that has a width in a front-to-back "x" direction, a length in a left-to-right "y" direction, and a height in a bottom-to-top "z" direction. The sheet light source 101 includes a bottom conductive surface 103, a laser diode 105, a transparent conductive sheet 113, and an adhesive material portion 107. The laser diode 105 is mounted on the conductive surface 103 in the "z" direction. The transparent conductive sheet 1 13 is laminated onto the laser diode 105 and the conductive surface 103 in the "z" direction. The adhesive material portion 107 is located between the conductive sheet 1 13 and the conductive surface 103, and binds the transparent conductive sheet 113 to the laser diode 105 and the conductive surface 103. The adhesive material portion 107 further enables photons, emitted substantially in the "x" direction from the laser diode 105, to propagate therein to an edge and be output.
