titleOfInvention Sediment type microbial fuel cell
abstract A sediment microbial fuel cell is provided. More specifically, the present invention provides a sediment microbial fuel cell characterized by comprising: an oxide electrode unit located within the sediment of polluted water; a reduction electrode unit located adjacent to the water surface within the water; and a sediment separation unit arranged inside the sediment and located in an upper part of the oxide electrode unit spaced apart from the oxide electrode unit, wherein one or more surfaces of the oxide electrode unit are exposed in the separation space formed by the sediment separation unit. Accordingly, the present invention increases the transmission rate of organic material from the oxide electrode unit and can thereby improve the output power of the fuel cell by arranging the sediment separation unit such that the oxide electrode unit is exposed in a separation space composed of liquid-phase material. In addition, the present invention can minimise the permeation of oxygen into the oxide electrode unit with the separation space composed of liquid-phase material and can thereby maintain the performance of the oxide electrode unit.
