abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a fluorescent probe with which it is possible to easily penetrate into a cell and to selectively detect, with good accuracy, singlet oxygen generated within the cell; and a singlet oxygen detection agent and singlet oxygen detection method that employ the same. This fluorescent probe detects singlet oxygen, wherein the fluorescent probe contains: a compound having a silicon-rhodamine skeleton, and a skeleton which, subsequent to trapping singlet oxygen, boosts the fluorescence of the fluorescent probe to a greater extent than that prior to trapping singlet oxygen; or a salt, hydrate, or solvate thereof.
