titleOfInvention Device for the delivery and packaging of implants
abstract The invention relates to an electric device for the delivery and packaging of dental and/or orthopaedic implants, intended to combat the biological ageing of the surfaces of titanium and/or tantalum and/or zirconium implants, using ultraviolet light generated immediately prior to placement. The invention comprises exposing the implants to ultraviolet light (photo-activation) independently of the time for which they have been stored, for which purpose the packaging (vacuum-packed and sterile) includes an internal electric battery that powers LEDs through 360 degrees around its circumference, providing ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 254 nm over the entire surface of the implant immediately prior to placement and without pre-exposure to the environment. The device also comprises an activator and a cover that is opened in order to expose the implant. The device further includes external grooves that can be used to secure, activate and cool the packaging.
