abstract | Provided is a technique employed in a method for producing acrylamide from acrylonitrile using a biocatalyst, said technique enabling the adjustment of the volume of a reaction solution in accordance with the quantity of the product so as to easily achieve a retention time in reactors which is appropriate to the quantity of the product, and therefore enabling the reduction in the quantity of the biocatalyst to be used. Provided is a method for producing acrylamide from acrylonitrile, wherein at least two reactors that are connected in series are used and the production is achieved by a continuous reaction in the reactors using a biocatalyst, said method being characterized in that a reactor (A) and a reactor (B) that is connected to the reactor (A) at an upstream side are communicated with each other at a position that is below both the liquid level of a reaction solution in the reactor (A) and the liquid level of the reaction solution in the reactor (B), and also characterized in that the method involves a step of adjusting the liquid level of the reaction solution in the reactor (A) to a level that is positioned between a level at which a connection port to the reactor (B) is arranged and a full liquid level so that the volume of the reaction solution in the reactor (B) can be controlled. |
