abstract A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a beacon message from a first tier. The beacon message may include information indicating a time period associated with a mode that the first tier communicates on a channel. The WTRU may send the information to a device in a second tier. The WTRU may communicate on the channel during time periods other than the time period utilized by the first tier to communicate on the channel.
