A method for manufacturing a wavelength conversion member, provided with: a disposing step for disposing a phosphor ceramic layer on a substrate; a removal step for removing a part of the phosphor ceramic layer so that a plurality of phosphor ceramic elements are disposed at a distance from each other along the direction orthogonal to the thickness direction of the substrate; a formation step for forming a coating layer containing an inorganic substance on the substrate so as to cover the surface of the phosphor ceramic element; and a cutting step for cutting the coating layer and the substrate in the thickness direction so as to include at least one phosphor ceramic element. |
